Depression and Anxiety

Depression is the feeling we get when we are drained of all energy and maybe you feel like you are walking in quicksand.  Depression is a complicated psychological disorder.  People can experience temporary depression during a stressful event, become so depressed they cannot get out of bed and/or start hallucinating, or just be “crabby” or moderately depressed all the time.  Depression is easily treated with counseling through cognitive-behavioral techniques.

Anxiety is the feeling of fear.  When we are afraid, we are anxious.  We worry what is going to happen next, where the money is going to come from to pay bills, what may happen to our children while they are at school, or even what may happen to us if we leave the house.  Anxiety is also easily treated in counseling by talking about your fears in a safe and comforting environment.
