Transgender Services

Gender is a complicated biological, social, cultural and identity issue. Some people feel they are a female despite being born biologically male, while others feel they are male even though they are born biologically female. The proper term for this is transgendered or transsexual. If you identify yourself as transgendered (a biological female that feels she is really a man or a biological male who feels he is really a female) Nick at Lake Side Counseling can offer help to determine if in fact you are transgendered and counseling during your transition. Nick can provide letters of support and identification, and also assist with referrals to community providers that are transgender sensitive, including the University of Michigan Comprehensive Gender Services Program.  Please contact Nick for more information if you are interested in this service.
